A HUGE rock band is set to reunite after two members went on a hiatus.

The hit American group slimmed down from four to two members despite releasing huge tracks including Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me.

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, 42, has now spoken out about the potential for an epic reunion - but admitted it would be "difficult."

The fan-favourite band was formed in Las Vegas back in 2001.

Yet Brandon and and Ronnie Vannucci Jr are the sole original band members who tour - with Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer on a touring hiatus, from 2017 and 2016 respectively.

Yet despite this, they both remain official members.

Brandon has now told NME of his hopes for the four-piece reuniting on stage and said: "The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities.

"It’s not impossible.

"It’s weird to be talking to you about it, but I’d definitely like to do that."

He previously exclusively told The Sun of the difficulties of the band line-up switch.

He said: "It was kind of tough to navigate. But that’s another thing I’m proud of. We’ve come up with this arrangement that works for everybody.

“A lot of bands just dissolve or there’s public fighting."

He added: "We had a fairly mature response to Dave and Mark. And we’ve come up with a way that works.

“You’re going to see them come in and out. And you might see them at a gig and you might not.

“What’s important is that the show keeps going on. Which has happened for two decades. So here’s to another 20 years.”

The group have sold more than 28 million records worldwide and on Spotify, their debut single Mr Brightside has been streamed a massive two billion times.

Back in August, the band scrapped their scheduled album, Evolve - but are now back with new release Rebel Diamonds.

Yet they nearly sparked a riot on-stage this summer when performing in Georgia.

Brandon also revealed his new look when he took to the stage with Elton John at Glastonbury this summer.

Meanwhile, Glastonbury has been a huge part of The Killers story as a whole.

They’ve played at the festival five times, the first in 2004 and most recently in 2019 when their Pyramid Stage headline set became one of the weekend’s legendary shows when they were joined on stage by the Pet Shop Boys and Johnny Marr.

Earlier this month, The Sun exclusively reported the group's two decades in music with a special interview.

“It feels like five or six years,” says singer Brandon, taking of their career in a video call from Brazil.

He said: "We’ve had so many highs, even last night we felt like we were The Beatles as we walked on stage in Sao Paulo.”

Brandon told how he had no idea how big the band had become at the start of their career.

“I personally wasn’t thinking beyond those early gigs at the time for sure," he said.

“We were green and everything was brand new. It was such an exciting thing to be a part of.

"I don’t think we’d ever imagine those early songs would mean so much.”
