Born in Cape Town on February 5, 1990, Charlbi Dean Kriek (aka Charlbi Dean) grew up in her native South Africa, blossoming into an expressive actress who would land roles in movies like ‘Triangle of Sadness,’ ‘An Interview With God,’ and ‘Don’t Sleep.’ She also appeared in nine episodes of The CW superhero show, ‘Black Lightning.’ Charlbi portrayed a bullet-proof assassin over two seasons. In addition to her acting career, Charlbi – at 5’8” – was a model. She was represented by IMG Models and appeared in a wide variety of covers and campaigns. Most notably, she appeared in a black-and-white portfolio in Vogue Scandinavia.
In 2022, Carlbi passed away. She died on Aug. 29 in New York City. A cause of death wasn’t immediately known except that she died from an ‘unexpected illness.’ She was only 32.
